The Pulse have upset competition leaders the Mystics 55-53 in their ANZ netball premiership match in Auckland.

It's just Mystics second loss of the season while the victory gives the Pulse a four win, four loss record.

The Pulse jumped out to a nine goal lead at the end of the first quarter, to lead 18-9.

The Mystics turned things around in second quarter outscoring the visitors 18 goals to 10 giving the Pulse a narrow 28-27 lead at halftime.

The match continued to be a topsy turvy affair with the Pulse having the better third quarter to lead 44-39 going into the final stanza and eventually hold on by two goals.

The Mystics shooters had much better shooting stats with Silver Fern Grace Nweke scoring 41 from 44 to give her a 93 percent success rate while Monica Faulkner shot 11 from 13.

Teenage Pulse shooter Amelia Walmsley wasn't on song, scoring 35 from 50 to give her only a 70 percent success rate but with the experience of Tiana Metuaru beside her at goal attack scoring 18 from 20 (90%) the Pulse were able to cling on.
