With Auckland under alert level 3 lockdown, the North has effectively been cut off from the rest of the country.
Police say people in Northland are unable to drive through the Auckland checkpoints, with the only exceptions being if they are essential staff working in Auckland, or if the person has a genuine medical reason to access an essential service that is not available in their own region.
