Sixteen months after the Privy Council quashed his previous convictions, Mark Lundy will go on trial again tomorrow in the High Court at Wellington.
Christine Lundy was 38 when she died and her daughter was seven.
They were bludgeoned to death in their Palmerston North home on 29 August 2000 and their bodies were discovered the following day by Mrs Lundy's brother.
In February 2001, the police charged Mark Lundy with the murders and his first trial took place in 2002.
A guilty verdict was returned and he was jailed.
However, Mr Lundy was released in October 2013 after the Privy Council overturned his convictions and granted him another trial.
It is expected to run for between eight and 10 weeks.
