Tacks have reportedly been scattered on a cycleway between Wellington's CBD and the suburb of Newtown.
Wellington City Council said they have urgently organised for the tacks to be swept up on Tuesday afternoon.
It is not the first time tacks have been reported on the cycleway - nor is it the only area that has seen a sprinkling recently.
Cyclist Matt Tso said he got tacks in his tyres three times in the past two months on the Evans Bay Cycleway.
"My feeling is that it was deliberate," he said.
The tacks were unusual in appearance, "[and] pretty strange they'd be spilled on a cycleway out there", Tso said.
After the first incident, he did cycle a different route for a short while, but the tacks would not stop him from cycling, he said.
