Waka Kotahi contractor threatened at gunpoint, police investigating

The police are investigating an incident in which a Waka Kotahi contractor in Tairāwhiti was threatened at gunpoint in the early hours of Thursday last week.

Waka Kotahi said contractors working at a State Highway 35 site at Mangahauini confirmed one of their security guards was threatened with a gun.

Incidents like this would not be tolerated, it said.

As a result, two security guards will be on duty at the site for the rest of the work.
