Jobs to go at Christchurch City Council

14:05 pm on 25 July 2014

The Christchurch City Council is hoping to save at least $1 million a year with its latest round of job cuts.

A council spokesperson said it was consulting staff on a proposal to change the management structure in two newly merged departments.

Under the proposal, 22 jobs would be disestablished and 15 new roles created, saving more than $1 million a year.

The merger was expected to create some efficiencies and savings, particularly at management level, the spokesperson said.

The job cuts are expected to be confirmed in early August.

In April, the council cut 10 senior management roles and created 11 new ones, saying that would result in $1 million being saved over four years.
