The American Samoa House of Representatives will hold a hearing on Thursday to review a Senate bill that makes it a crime for anyone under 21 to possess or consume alcohol.
The bill also expands the list of public places where alcohol consumption is banned.
The attorney general and members of the government appointed Alcohol Beverage
Control Board have been asked to testify at the hearing.
The committee will also seek an official recommendation on the bill from Chief
Justice Michael Kruse.
The bill is the result of amendments submitted in April this year by District Court Judge John Ward in an effort to combat underage drinking.
