A sinkhole has opened up on a busy Auckland road.
The pothole is due to a burst water main, an Auckland Transport spokesperson said.
Police said they were told there was a sinkhole on Queenstown Road in Onehunga shortly before 8am.
A police spokesperson said officers were helping with traffic management in the area.
The sinkhole is in the northbound lanes, so traffic in both directions is being managed through the southbound lanes.
Watercare said there were two water leaks on the road which were unrelated to the pothole.
The spokesperson said crews were at the scene repairing the leaks and it was expected water would be restored to 17 affected homes on the road by about 1pm.
