The Chinese government is setting up a task force to improve security in schools after three attacks on schoolchildren this week.

Police patrols near school grounds have been stepped up to protect China's 270 million students.

In the latest incident on Friday, a farmer grabbed children at a nursery school in Shandong province and then set himself on fire.

Xinhua news agency reports the motive for the attack is not yet known.
