A prisoner alleged to have overpowered two Corrections officers and escaped from Whanganui Hospital in December has denied all charges against him.
Kenneth John Burns faced a range of charges, including escaping custody and two counts of aggravated assault, when he appeared in the Whanganui District Court.
The 34-year-old was a remand prisoner facing dishonesty charges when he was admitted to the hospital on 2 December.
Police said he escaped on 11 December and was captured on 27 December in Taranaki.
Burns, who is from Palmerston North, was remanded in custody until 24 February for a case review.
