A three-car crash on State Highway 1 near Tawa created havoc for Wellington commuters heading home this evening.
Police said the crash happened shortly after 5.20pm and was just north of the Tawa on-ramp.
No-one was seriously injured but motorists travelling north were told to expect significant delays.
In an update about 6.40pm, the New Zealand Transport Agency said the site had been cleared.
It asked motorists to be patient while the congestion eased.
