An 18-year-old man has appeared in court following the assault of a woman and her baby at a Christchurch park last month.
The man, whose name is suppressed, appeared in the Christchurch District Court this morning, charged with assault.
A three-week-old baby was taken to hospital and the mother was injured after a man reportedly jumped on them as they lay in a tent at Scarborough Park in Sumner on 17 December.
Police responded to reports of the incident in Heberden Avenue, Sumner, around 10pm that day.
The man was remanded on bail, and is due to reappear in court in two weeks.
