Gabon upset Cameroon in African Nations Cup

11:55 am on 14 January 2010

The football teams bound for the World Cup in South Africa have continued their poor start to the African Nations Cup in Angola, with Cameroon losing 1-nil to neighbours Gabon in their opening Group D match.

None of the teams who have qualified for the June World Cup have won a game yet, with Algeria, Nigeria and Cameroon losing their first matches and Ivory Coast being held to a draw.

A 17th minute goal by Gabon's Daniel Cousin was enough to secure a win for the underdogs, who lost both of their World Cup qualifying matches to Cameroon late last year..

Zambia, who were not expected to make it to the next phase, provided a surprise result in the other Group D match as well, holdingTunisia to a 1-all draw.
