Surge in tribal fighting in Hela raises questions over police

06:04 am on 6 December 2016

Police have been at a loss to prevent a surge in tribal fighting in Papua New Guinea's Hela Province.

The Highlands province is the hub of the country's major Liquefied Natural Gas, or LNG, Project led by ExxonMobil.

While tribal fighting is not being linked to the project, the role of police and their links to the project are being questioned
