A 38-year-old woman has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in New Plymouth and critically injured.
Police said a 23-year-old woman was struck at around 2.40am on Sunday, after an altercation on Liardet Street involving several people.
The woman struck by the vehicle was critically injured and was reported to be in a stable condition in hospital
A friend of the victim, a 23-year-old man, also suffered moderate injuries when his foot was run over.
A section of the street was cordoned off this morning and a scene examination was underway.
Police had spoken to a number of witneses, but were keen to hear from anyone else who saw the incident unfold.
