Magpies thrash Harbour to go top in Championship

Hawke's Bay has thrashed North Harbour by a record 39-10 scoreline in Thursday night's provincial rugby clash at Albany.

The visitors led 17-3 at half-time and dominated the second half, the Magpies scoring three of their five tries after the break.

Second-five Andrew Horrell kicked four conversions and two penalties for Hawke's Bay, who claimed top spot for now in the second-tier Championship.

Counties Manukau challenge Southland for the Ranfurly Shield in Invercargill tonight while Waikato host Tasman.
