A man considered dangerous who was being sought over a fatal hit and run outside Pomare train station in Lower Hutt on Tuesday morning has been arrested.
About 7am a pedestrian was struck by a southbound vehicle on Eastern Hutt Road and died at the scene.
The driver failed to stop after the crash and left the scene travelling south, police said.
Police have charged the man. They had been seeking Chad Reuben Arene Clark, 35.
He is due to appear in the Palmerston North District Court on Saturday charged with driving dangerously causing death and failing to stop.
Police would still like to speak with anyone who has not been in touch with them already about a red 2002 Toyota Corolla hatchback, registration AYM387, which was travelling in the Upper Hutt area around 7am on Tuesday.
