19:19 pm on 15 March 2019

Two former Speakers of Samoa have marvelled at the country's new parliament building which opened this week at the traditional Tiafau malae in Apia.

Tolofuaivalelei Falemoe Leiataua told Newsline Samoa the Australian-funded building is more superior than the one he presided in between 2006 until 2011 when he was elevated to cabinet ranks.

He also praised the use of traditional material to blend into the construction

Another former Speaker and Opposition MP A'eau Peniamina Leavai liked the spaciousness of the new house.

Speaking at the opening on Thursday, Australia's Assistant Minister for International Development in the Pacific, Senator Anne Ruston announced that her government would also fund the legislative offices.
