Fiji opposition MP and lawyer Niko Nawaikula has appeared before the Independent Legal Services Commission facing allegations of misconduct.
The Social Democratic Liberal Party member is accused of failing to seek the approval of members of a mataqali, or clan, when facilitating a formation of trust deed.
The Fiji Sun reported Nawaikula was also alleged to have distributed the clan's trust funds received from the iTaukei Land Trust Board.
The Legal Practitioners Unit told the court it had received representations from the MP and may amend the principal charge by the end of the week.
The case has been adjourned to 4 September.
