The Vanuatu Prime Minister, Charlot Salwai, has reassured the Pacific Games Council of the country's commitment to hosting the 2017 Mini Games.

The Chief Executive Officer of Games Council, Andrew Minogue, met with Mr Salwai and the local Pacific Games Authority this week, with less than six months until the start of the Mini Games.

He said the trip was important to obtain a first hand update on progress and to ensure that all Government support is in place.

The Pacific Games Authority confirmed that the remaining funds required by Van2017 will be forwarded to the Mini Games Organising Committee, in accordance within an agreed to cash flow and under special considerations drafted by the State Law Office.

The Prime Minister personally gave his assurances of the financial and logistical support of the country, and was confident that the people of Vanuatu were excited the Games are coming in December.

Andrew Minogue thanked the Prime Minister for his pledge and expressed the Council and its members condolences on the loss of the Late President Lonsdale.

He added that the Council trusted that Vanuatu will host this sporting event and was happy to see the commitment of the Vanuatu Government towards the Games.
