One person has died in a house fire in Whakatāne this morning.
At about 5.30am emergency services were called to the property on Tuhoe Avenue.
Police said formal identification is underway as well as informing the next of kin.
The cause of the fire is unknown and Fire and Emergency investigators will be at the scene today.
