Fatialofa feared he would never walk again after breaking a bone in his neck playing for English club Worcester against Saracens in January.

He underwent surgery to relieve the pressure on his spinal cord caused by bruising and swelling.

"My delightful husband is coming home tomorrow night," Fatialofa's wife Tatiana said on her Twitter account yesterday.

"5 MONTHS I've waited."

She later posted the couple's gratitude for all the people who have supported them. "He wouldn't be coming home in this miraculous condition without your prayers, love & the support shown in various ways which will carry us thru the next phase," Tatiana Fatialofa wrote.

Fatialofa's last season of Super rugby was in 2018.

TVNZ has reported that he will continue his rehabilitation in Britain before returning to New Zealand by the end of the year.
