The Papua New Guinea Hunters rugby league team moved a step closer to the post-season after beating Tweed Heads Seagulls to extend their Intrust Super Cup winning streak to five matches.
The defending champions prevailed 22-18 at Piggabeen Sports Complex to solidify their place in the sixth and final playoff position.
The Seagulls raced to a 10-0 lead inside the first quarter of an hour, with tries from Alex Grant Kody Parsons, before the Hunters responded with tries from Adex Wera and Brendon Gotuno, either side of an Ase Boas penalty, to take a two point lead into half-time.
Watson Boas and Junior Rau scored to extend the lead to 22-10 midway through the second spell.
The home side rallied with late with tries from Jack Cook and Bryce Cartwright but the Hunters held on to record back to back wins away from home for the first time this season.
The race for the top six remains tight with two round remaining in the regular season.
The Hunters remain level on points with fifth placed Easts Tigers, while Norths Devils fell two points adrift with defeat at Wynnum Manly, who travel to Port Moresby this weekend.
