A spokesperson for the airport, Phil Rennie, said the alarm was triggered by a toaster in the Koru Lounge in the international terminal around 5.45am.

"As a result around 300 people had to be briefly evacuated outside. Two flights were delayed by 45 minutes but are all away safely now."

Fire and Emergency says two fire appliances were called to the scene but had left by just after 6am.
