A former high-ranking New Zealand police officer has appeared in court in the Cook Islands following a drug bust.
The man, who has name suppression, was among 13 people arrested last week on a variety of drugs and corruption charges.
Police headquarters has confirmed 11 officers from New Zealand flew to Rarotonga to help execute the final stage of the year-long operation.
On Friday the former officer was remanded in custody until at least Wednesday when there will be a bail hearing.
