A man charged with murder after a woman's death in West Auckland this week has been granted interim name suppression.
The 29-year-old appeared in Waitākere District Court this morning accused of the murder of 27-year-old Nazia Hai.
Police said she was stabbed.
Police launched a homicide investigation on Monday after the woman's death.
Emergency services were called to an incident on Graham Avenue in Te Atatu Peninsula around 7.15am.
Hai was taken to hospital in a critical condition and later died of her injuries.
Detective Inspector Aaron Proctor said Hai and the accused knew each other.
"This is a tragic incident and we are ensuring there is support in place for those closest to the victim.
"We know this will have been a shock to the community, however we would like to reassure them this appears to be an isolated incident.
"As such, police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this matter."
The suspect is due to appear in the Auckland High Court in a fortnight.
