Greymouth rest home to close due to 'sustained risk' issues

21:46 pm on 27 February 2017

A Greymouth rest home will close next month, due to sustained risk and non-compliance issues, says the Ministry of Health.

Following a recent audit the ministry withdrew its certification for Kowhai Manor, which is operated by Kiwiannia Care Limited and currently houses 24 residents.

The ministry said the audit report was still being processed and was not publicly available yet.

A Canterbury and West Coast District Health Board spokesperson, Carolyn Gullery, said there was limited aged residential care available on the West Coast.

Ms Gullery said the immediate focus was on working with residents and their families to find new homes.
