Tonight is the night New Zealanders wind back their clocks - and it is welcome relief for some.
Officially, clocks should be turned back one hour at 2am tomorrow morning.
Marlborough dairy farmer Evan White is among thousands of dairy farmers whose morning milking sessions end before sunrise.
Mr White said the sun was not up when he was milking at 7.30am this morning and was looking forward to a change tomorrow.
"It's quite strange to be finishing milking and have it still dark for tractor work and feeding out.
"I just look forward to it finishing, be inside a bit earlier with the family and have that light a little bit earlier in the morning."
Daylight saving will begin again on the 29 September.
