China's new ambassador to Fiji, Zhang Ping , says there is potential for greater economic co-operation between China and Fiji.
The Fiji Sun reports Mr Zhang as saying China was a firm supporter of Fiji and would do the best it could to assist Fiji economically.
The paper reports Mr Zhang said China thinks economic co-operation is the cornerstone of the China Fiji relationship.
He said China would continue implementing aid projects that were in progress but it was also important to explore new areas of co-operation.
