Reports from Papua say three more people have been killed in the Indonesian province in an attack by unknown persons.

The Jakarta Post says one soldier and two civilians were killed in the Bogobaida district of the Paniai regency.

Police say the bodies, which have been found with many wounds, have been taken to the Nabire General Hospital for post mortems.

They are investigating who might have killed the three and are also trying to establish a motive.

Earlier, the caretaker governor, Syamsul Arief Rivai, lamented the spate of unsolved killings allegedly carried out by armed secessionists in the province.
