Papua New Guinea's national court has stopped the police force from taking any disciplinary action against former assistant commissioner Thomas Eluh.
Mr Eluh has applied for a judicial review of the commissioner, Gari Baki's decision to suspend him after he refused to be moved from Port Moresby to head the New Guinea Islands region as assistant commissioner.
The newspaper, The National, says acting judge Leka Nablu issued an interim restraining order stopping Mr Baki and others from suspending or transferring Mr Eluh until the matter returns to court in two weeks.
