The Warriors have turned down prop Addin Fonua-Blake's request for an immediate release from his contract on compassionate grounds.
Fonua-Blake has three years remaining on contract with the Auckland-based club and chief executive officer Cameron George said an agreement had been reached for Fonua-Blake to remain with the Warriors for the 2024 season while assessing his personal circumstances for 2025 and beyond.
The Dally M Prop of the Year was a key part of the Warriors' run to the NRL preliminary finals this year but the 27-year-old was looking to move back to Sydney to be closer to his parents.
Fonua-Blake joined the Warriors in 2021 from the Manly Sea Eagles where he debuted in 2016.
"My only motivation for this move is for family reasons," said Fonua-Blake.
"But I really want all Warriors fans to know that I am fully committed to getting into the 2024 season.
"I can't wait to get back to training with my teammates with the aim to go even further in the upcoming season."
