The former Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae will be New Zealand's next High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

Sir Jerry will replace retiring High Commissioner Sir Lockwood Smith, who has been in the position since 2013.
Foreign Minister Murray McCully said New Zealand was currently working on the shape of its post-Brexit relationship with the UK and Sir Jerry would be responsible for leading that effort.
