Breakthrough in search for Auckland woman

10:34 am on 27 May 2014

Police investigating the disappearance of Auckland woman Blessie Gotingco say they have found what they believe to be a body.

They have been searching a cemetery near her home. A scene examination is underway, however it will be late afternoon before Police are able to confirm any more details.

The search took a new turn earlier, when police began focusing on an area of bush at the back of the Birkenhead-Glenfield cemetery.

The cemetery on the North Shore was cordoned off.

Ms Gotingco, 56, left her job at Tower Insurance in Fanshawe Street, central Auckland, on Saturday night, but never arrived home in Salisbury Street, Birkdale.

Her mobile phone and shoes were later found on the roadside about 400m away from her bus stop on Birkdale Road.
