Two buildings have been damaged by strong winds in Taranaki.
Fire services were called to Oropururi Road, north east of New Plymouth at 2pm today.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said they assessed the buildings after strong gusts lifted the roofs on two properties, creating minor damage.
While initial reports were of a tornado in the district, a MetService spokesperson said the gusts were most likely the result of a front crossing New Plymouth - creating strong straight line winds, with no spin.
