A fuel tanker has rolled on State Highway 1 north of Taupō, closing the road.

Police said the truck rolled near Chestnut and Thorpe roads, at Ohakuri, about 7.40am.
They said reports indicated the driver had been flown to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.
SH1 is closed in both directions between Chestnut Rd and Thorpe Rd.
Traffic is being diverted via Oruanui Rd, Poihipi Rd and Tirohanga Rd, and motorists are being asked to allow an extra 20 minutes travel time.
