The majority of Fiji's people want the coup front man, George Speight, kept isolated on Nukulau island to serve his life imprisonment.

This is the finding of a Tebbutt-Fiji Times public opinion poll of more than a thousand people published today.

The poll found that 54 per cent of the respondents want Speight kept in isolation even though he is now the only prisoner on the island.

Only 46 per cent want him transferred elsewhere.

Both 53 per cent of indigenous Fijians and 53 per cent of ethnic Indians want Speight kept on Nukulau but among other races the figure climbs higher to 59 per cent.
