The Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal has reserved its decision on whether to proceed with a case against senior Maori lawyer Donna Hall.
Ms Hall's lawyer asked the tribunal on Tuesday to throw out the case, which has been taken by the Standards Committee of the Wellington District Law Society.
It is accusing Ms Hall of a conflict of interest in acting for more than one party in the sale and purchase of a block of land near Taupo, known as Tauraha North, between 2006 and 2007.
She faces a charge of negligence or incompetence which has brought the profession into disrepute.
Ms Hall's lawyer Helen Cull, QC, says that the case should be thrown out because of ongoing delays in the proceedings.
But the standards committee lawyer, Gary Turkington, argues some of those delays were brought on by Donna Hall herself, and the case should go ahead.
A decision on whether the case will proceed will be released after 10am on Wednesday.
