Social services in Canterbury have received a $2.8 million dollar injection.
The Canterbury Community Trust has provided funding grants to more than 100 organisations struggling with increased demand and Government funding structures.
Trust chief executive Louise Edwards said social services are encountering clients with complex needs, who require more comprehensive responses.
She said many applicants were struggling financially because funding was not keeping pace with increased costs, such as accommodation, electricity and wages.
Children's charity Barnados, the Battered Women's Trust and the Canterbury Refugee Council are among the recipients.
