Mark Ford had been brought in to chair the company after it was bailed out by the Government last year.

He is one of New Zealand's highest paid public servants, receiving more than $780,000 as chief executive of Auckland Council-owned Watercare company.

Mr Ford has been on sick leave since the start of this year, but Watercare says he will be returning to full duties in that role.
