The Auckland Blues winger George Moala has been found guilty of a charge relating to a bar fight that left a man concussed and bleeding from the head.
A jury in the Auckland District Court found him guilty of assault with intent to injure but cleared him of an assault charge.
Moala's older brother Siua was cleared of assault with intent to injure and assault charges.
The jury deliberated for five hours before returning their verdicts.
The pair showed little emotion as the verdicts were read out at the Auckland District Court and Judge Rob Ronayne thanked their supporters for remaining calm.
The Crown's case was that 24-year-old George Moala was involved in a confrontation at the Desi Lounge on Auckland's Karangahape Rd in December 2012.
Clifford Matoka told the court he was kicked while on the ground and the Crown said he was likely stabbed with a bottle.
George Moala's lawyer Paul Wicks QC asked that a conviction not be entered against his client - signalling that he's considering an application for a discharge without conviction.
Moala will be sentenced in May.
