Mataraki Forests seek Selwyn acquisition

07:52 am on 24 June 2011

Forestry company Matariki Forests has applied to the Commerce Commission to purchase exotic forests in Canterbury from the Selwyn Plantation Board.

The board is owned by Selwyn District Council and Christchurch City Council.

Matariki Forests is the largest forest owner in Canterbury.

The commission says both parties are involved in the supply of saw and pulp logs in the Canterbury region, so it is considering.
