More than 13,000 students will take their NCEA level 1 maths tests online, following a pilot last year.
The Qualifications Authority has confirmed students from 146 schools throughout the country will be involved in the second computer-based trial.
The first trial last year involved 27 schools and just under 2500 students.
Students sitting the test on computer will also sit a paper assessment, and their highest mark will count towards NCEA.
The testing will take place in September.
The Qualifications Authority said the second pilot was a step towards the goal of having all tests done online.
