It's bad bitch o'clock - multi-Grammy award-winning hip-hop and R&B artist Lizzo has announced a New Zealand show date.
Lizzo - otherwise known as Melissa Viviane Jefferson - will play Auckland's Spark Arena on Wednesday 26 July.
The singer, flautist, songwriter and rapper last played in New Zealand in 2020. Since then, she's won a multitude of awards, including picking up Record of the Year for her single, About Damn Time, at the 65th Grammy Awards recently. She dedicated the award win to Prince, saying that when he died in 2016, she decided to "dedicate my life to making positive music".
"After feeling misunderstood as a young artist, "I wanted to make the world a better place, so I had to be that change, to make the world a better place."
In recent years Lizzo has also voiced an animated series, acted alongside Jennifer Lopez in Hustlers and launched her own inclusive-sized activewear line.
Zimbabwean-born Australian singer-songwriter and rapper, Tkay Maidza will be the support act at Lizzo's Auckland show. General public tickets go on sale next week.
