Police in Taranaki fear a man has drowned after he apparently fell overboard from a small boat at the weekend.
An empty dinghy was found at Port Taranaki on Saturday morning, about 30 minutes after David Bruce Barr was last seen in it.
The boat contained the 53-year-old's gear, including his lunch and fishing equipment.
Police say it appears Mr Barr was not wearing a life jacket. A search was made for him on Monday.
