New surcharge on plastic bag use in Fiji

The Fuel Retailers Association in Fiji is preparing to implement its first nationwide surcharge on plastic bags.

The association will charge 10 cents for single use plastic bags at 75 service station convenience stores from next month.

The money collected will go into an environment and climate change fund set up by the government.
