Kiri Wills has re-signed with the Stars as head coach for the 2024 ANZ Premiership season.
Wills is currently in her sixth season as coach and has led the team to a second straight grand final, with the Stars to play the Mystics in Sunday's title decider in Hamilton.
She was also coach when the Stars reached their first grand final in 2019.
"I'm really excited to be back in the saddle for another season. We've done a really good job this year, so it's great that the board and powers that be agree" Wills said
Stars General Manager Jane Bennett has praised the work Wills has done during her time as coach.
"After another strong year for the Stars I'm thrilled that Kiri will be at the helm again in 2024. The culture she has helped build over the last six years delivers a team that is determined, driven and just so much fun to watch on court." Bennett said.
Wills has had to be flexible during her tenure and believes her adaptability has helped her grow as a coach, while always looking at the bigger picture.
"I've always loved being the underdog. When I first signed on I loved the appeal of building something that South Auckland could be proud of and I do think we've worked hard to achieve that and I hope the Stars whānau and everybody involved with us knows that when we go to work and play we are very conscious of how we represent the community."
