The Education and Science Select Committee has agreed to investigate dyslexia, dyspraxia and autism spectrum disorders among students in schools, the Green Party says.
The party's education spokesperson and representative on the select committee, Catherine Delahunty, said the committee would investigate how schools screen for the disabilities and identify best practice.
It would also consider why more students at high decile schools than low decile schools were qualifying for special assistance during NCEA exams.
Ms Delahunty said the Green Party asked for the inquiry because many students were missing out on education because learning differences were not identified early enough.
