Police have confirmed a 32-year-old man has been shot and seriously injured after a firearms incident in Grey Lynn, central Auckland.

The man is now in a critical condition in hospital.
Police said there was no information to suggest any ongoing risk to the public.
Waitematā Local Board member Graeme Gunthorp said his neighbour had been firing a weapon at his own house about 5.30pm on Wallingford Street.
Gunthorp said he and his family hid in their basement and called police.
Across 15 minutes, he heard a dozen gun shots and then 10 minutes later another two shots, he said.
He said police had told him they shot the man in the stomach and he was alive when they took him away.
There were still about a dozen police out on the street about 7pm, he said.
Police confirmed this evening the man fired at his own place of residence.
"Police staff were initially called to Wallingford Street in Grey Lynn just after 5pm after being notified a man in an agitated state was standing on the street with a firearm,"Auckland City District Commander Superintendent, Karyn Malthus, said this evening.
"Officers went towards the man and called upon him to put down his firearm.
"He has however raised it towards the police staff and been shot once."
Police did a search of the house and no one was located inside.
"This incident would have been incredibly traumatic for the Grey Lynn community on what would have seemed like an average Monday evening," Malthus said.
Police said there would be an increased presence of officers in the area over the coming days.
The Independent Police Conduct Authority will be notified, and a Critical Incident Investigation is underway.
A cordon remains on Wallingford St, where it intersects with Murdoch Rd, and a scene guard will be in place overnight at the property.
