Mt Ruapehu climber who died was senior advisor at MSD

A woman who died after falling on Mt Ruapehu last week was a senior advisor at the Ministry of Social Development.

Emma Langley was with a group of nine climbers when she fell while traversing Cathedral Rocks on 26 September.

Police have now released the name of the 37-year-old, who was a UK national living in Wellington.

They say her family has requested privacy at this time.

Local hapū Ngāti Hikairo blessed the site the following morning.
